Mokon, a division of Protective Industries, Inc., has been a manufacturer and designer of circulating liquid temperature control systems since 1955. Engineers at Protective Industries, originally developed a temperature control unit (TCU) for mold temperature control on their fast-cycle injection molding machines. These temperature controllers were hot water systems (thermoregulators). Today, Mokon's current line of water temperature control systems consists of the Duratherm, Minitherm, and Hydrotherm water temperature controllers.

Some customer applications required excessively higher temperatures for process heating than their hot water heaters would allow. Mokon engineers answered that challenge, by designing high temp systems for applications over 250 degrees. These systems are hot oil units, and can operate at temperatures up to 600 degrees. A Mokon HTF System, heat transfer fluid system, is an oil heater (thermal fluid system) for applications that require excessively high temperature process heating. These hot oil systems are used as die heaters in die casting operations, as well as other industrial heating applications.

Due to Mokon engineers' experience and dedication to the temperature control industry, a refrigeration system was developed for process cooling. A portable chiller, the Iceman, was designed and manufactured to provide efficient and accurate water cooling for demanding applications. The Iceman portable chillers are non-corrosive and are available in different cooling capacities, both as an air-cooled chiller or a water-cooled chiller. The Iceman is also available in a full range design, combining a heating and cooling system in one cabinet for applications requiring multi-zone control of heat transfer and chilling. The Iceman SC line of portable chillers, dual circuit, and full range systems are available with a scroll compressor for increased efficiency. In addition, a fractional capacity, Micro Series chiller is also available.

With the success of the Iceman portable chillers, it was a natural step for Mokon's engineers to apply their expertise in process cooling to developing central chiller systems and pump tanks. Both air and water cooled designs are available to provide this plant-wide source of continuous process cooling. Single or multiple circuit configurations are available with capacities ranging from 30 tons and up. Also available from Mokon are Outdoor Air-Cooled Central Chiller Systems from 10 ton capacities and larger and HDPE or Galvanized Cooling Towers from 10 to 500 tons.

Mokon engineers create custom designed temperature controllers to meet a customer's special needs, from unique size requirements to increased flow or heating capacities. Also included in Mokon's product line are four specialty products - the Leakmaster, a negative pressure water system (stops leaks in molds), Descaler (removes rust and mineral deposits), ClearFlo (heat transfer fluid filtration system) and ClearFlo Plus (heat transfer fluid filtration and water removal system) to help reduce downtime and maintenance labor costs that can be associated with heat transfer fluid temperature control systems.
